Travel Requirements

Now that we are getting a bit closer to trip timing, we wanted to pull together a bit of information related to COVID and travel requirements. Obviously, things are changing so frequently that you should always refer to the official government website, but for those group members planning their trip we thought it would be handy to have some links close together.

You should always keep an eye on the following government page for the latest info on detailed entry requirements: https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/covid-vaccinated-travellers-entering-canada

ArriveCAN: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/coronavirus-disease-covid-19/arrivecan.html

Enjoying our local hills.

Right around this time of year for the past many years, most of us were at Sunday River or at Jay Peak. As everyone knows, due to Covid that just didn’t happen this year!

Thankfully, we do have our local hills and they are doing a great job of saving our ski season.

We wanted to give a shout out to say what a great season we have had so far at Ski Martock, as we have been there quite a bit this year. I said today that the conditions at Martock could only be improved by having more acreage, thus more area for runs. A magic carpet from the chair lift to The Glades would also be nice for some of us!! 😉

As usual, the staff have worked their magic on the hill and it shows, the conditions are so close to perfection, especially in the morning, you could not ask for any better. The lift lines are very manageable and moving as fast as possible. The staff are super friendly and helpful. There have been a few customers that need to be reminded that MASKS are mandatory, but most have complied with a smile (of course you just couldn’t see it). We are all there to enjoy the sport and staff are going out of their way to make sure that we continue to have the opportunity to do so, therefore please mask up as required.

Just a reminder to not let this season pass you by just because we can’t enjoy our annual trip. We have a list of the hills in Atlantic Canada here, if you are looking for some more information.

Also wanted to share, we decided to stay overnight in Windsor on Tuesday to eliminate the drive and have a bit of a getaway. We stayed at The Clockmaker’s Inn, less than 10 mins to Ski Martock.

We had a wonderful stay in a very comfortable room, breakfast included. The staff there are super and the breakfast was so good. When we checked in we received a discount coupon for The Spitfire Arms Pub , which we had frequented a few times in the last few weeks. So this was a bonus, they have very good lunch time specials , so we had a late lunch after leaving the hill before heading to the Inn.

Let us know what you all have been up to this year! Hopefully next year we will all be together again.

Happy New Year!

Sending along best wishes for the new year to all of our group members! We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday season, and hope 2021 brings lots of joy (and also lots of snow for local ski hills)!

While this new year is certainly different from our typical planning; we’d love to stay in touch with you all and pass along any ski related news we have.

Remember to follow us on Facebook where we will also share more frequent information from ski hills in the Maritime provinces.

Stay safe and healthy in 2021! We know most of us are ready to move on from 2020, just like this little member of our group!

2020; I’m over it!

Sad news for the Duggan Ski Group

One of our earliest and most enthusiastic members, Bruce Warren, passed away this past week.

Bruce loved to ski and always enjoyed a good time. He regularly traveled to various ski hills, and while at Sunday River he made the most of every moment on the slopes.

At Sunday River last year, part of his outfit included an O2 generator strapped to his chest; not skiing was not an option for Bruce. This would be the last time he hit the slopes.

Many of you may have met Bruce over the years; either on the hill, at the wine and cheese, in the hot tub, or as a part of the many apres ski get-togethers.

A permanent fixture of the Duggan Ski Group, Bruce will be missed greatly by all of us.

His obituary can be found here.

Miscellaneous Updates

Sunday River:

Hopefully you won’t need this information, but if you are in need of car repairs while at the resort: we had work done at the Savage Auto service center in Bethel last year and they were very helpful.

General:

We have updated the website to include a weather page to pull together a number of locations that may be helpful at a glance while you are travelling and looking ahead to the trip. This page can be found by clicking here or can be found under the General Info drop-down in the main menu.

Thanks!!!

Thanks again to everyone who came along on our trips to Sunday River or Jay Peak this year. We have posted pictures submitted by some of our group members in our gallery; please take a look and let us know if you have anymore you would like added.

Please stay tuned for upcoming posts on updates for booking at Sunday River next March 🙂

Latest Conditions

We thought those of you not following us on Facebook might be missing out on some of the recent pictures we have been sharing of both Jay Peak and Sunday River!

Conditions at both resorts are looking excellent, with so much more snow than we are seeing here in Nova Scotia! Jay Peak has received close to 3 feet of snow in the past 6 days with even more snow in the forecast tomorrow. Sunday River has also had it’s fair share of the white stuff and is predicting over 6 inches tomorrow.
