Cancellation Information

We just received the following from Sunday River for anyone looking to cancel their trip:

Due to the advisories by Canadian and US government, I expect quite a few people, if not all, will want to cancel their trip. Please call the reservations hotline and you will be walked through the process. You may have to call guest services about the March passports.

Sunday River understands the need to change arrangements due to health concerns and want to accommodate as best they can.

Lodging

Upon request, any guest with an existing reservation or making a new reservation for the period of March 13 to April 30 will be allowed to carry a credit for the value of their reservation for one year. We are effectively providing our Trip Protection benefits to any guests with an existing or new reservation during this arrival window.  Contact point is 800-543-2754.  Credits will remain in guest account in SMS.

March Passports

Upon request, any Canadian guest who purchased a March Passport and has not picked it up will be allowed to carry a credit for their passport to next season.  Passports will not be transferrable from the original purchaser and credits will be valid only toward the purchase of 2021 Passports. Contact point is guestservices@sundayriver.com.  Credits will remain in guest account in RTP.

Pre-purchased Lift Tickets

Upon request, any guest who pre-purchased a lift ticket online through sundayriver.com for arrival dates beginning March 13 through the end of the season will be issued a gift card for the value of their ticket purchase. Gift cards can be used to purchase tickets or other pass products online or at the resort. Tickets purchased through third parties / OTAs would fall under their respective policies.  Contact point is guestservices@sundayriver.com.  Gift card number will be emailed and backup kept in ticket office.

Sad news for the Duggan Ski Group

One of our earliest and most enthusiastic members, Bruce Warren, passed away this past week.

Bruce loved to ski and always enjoyed a good time. He regularly traveled to various ski hills, and while at Sunday River he made the most of every moment on the slopes.

At Sunday River last year, part of his outfit included an O2 generator strapped to his chest; not skiing was not an option for Bruce. This would be the last time he hit the slopes.

Many of you may have met Bruce over the years; either on the hill, at the wine and cheese, in the hot tub, or as a part of the many apres ski get-togethers.

A permanent fixture of the Duggan Ski Group, Bruce will be missed greatly by all of us.

His obituary can be found here.

Sunday River 2020

Happy Monday! We are starting to update our site with information for 2020; you can find updated rates and information for Sunday River, under the Sunday River tab and by viewing the updated Duggan Ski Group 2020 flyer.

These rates are valid until October 15th, 2019, and includes the following eligible dates: March 1-6, 2020; March 8-13, 2020; and March 15-20, 2020

More information to come for Jay Peak 🙂

Thank you!

Thank you for another great year! We saw some of the best snow conditions in recent memory at both Sunday River and Jay Peak. We hope everyone had a wonderful vacation!

Once we receive new information on the Sunday River booking process for 2020, we will be sure to pass it along and update the site. They are planning on making improvements to the process and we know our group members always have a fantastic time there.

Hard to believe, but the planning for our 2020 Jay Peak trip has already begun. The pricing is yet to be finalized, but we have prebooked a block of rooms for group members. We have already booked 6 rooms at Hotel Jay – this was the earliest we have ever booked rooms! We have received such amazing feedback on Jay Peak that we are happy to be booking vacations here again for the upcoming season.

Here in Nova Scotia, the March break dates will be March 16 – 20, 2020. This also aligns with the Ontario school system March break, which means there will be a high demand for rooms and less availability than we have had in the past. If you know you are interested in a ski vacation, best to book early and secure your spot. At this time, we are taking names for Jay Peak on a tentative basis – no deposit required. As always, rooms are on a first come, first serve basis.

We will be updating our photos on the site and sharing some to our Facebook page, please feel free to share some of your own!

Miscellaneous Updates

Sunday River:

The current prices at Sunday River are current until tomorrow, February 15th. If you are thinking of booking, book now to avoid the next price increase! See our page for more info and share our booking code with friends.

Hopefully you won’t need this information, but if you are in need of car repairs while at the resort: we had work done at the Savage Auto service center in Bethel last year and they were very helpful.

Jay Peak Resort:

Housekeeping is offered daily at Hotel Jay and Tram Haus Lodge. There will be Keurig machines in each room, and a small stash of K-cups will be given daily.

Our unfilled rooms are being dropped from our group tomorrow, February 15th. What does this mean for you? If you haven’t yet booked, rooms will now be on a first come, first served basis from the resort. We will need to check with them for availability for each request and hope there is something still available.

General:

We have updated the website to include a weather page to pull together a number of locations that may be helpful at a glance while you are travelling and looking ahead to the trip. This page can be found by clicking here or can be found under the General Info drop-down in the main menu.

Sunday River Price Increase

Just a friendly reminder – the quoted rates you see on our site and on the Sunday River site are set to increase on October 15th!!! We at the Duggan Ski Group do not know the details of how much they may increase, but have been told to expect something.

If you are planning to book for this upcoming March, now is when you will find the lowest rates! Keep reading to the bottom of this post to see the cheapest way to book your vacation.

Remember, the detailed information and links you need can all be found here: Booking at Sunday River.

We also thought it would be nice to give an example of the savings you will receive when booking your lodging through the Duggan Ski Group booking link vs. through the hill directly as a non-group member.

The example below is for a family of three (two adults, one junior), staying at the Grand Summit Hotel in a Studio Deluxe for five nights, from March 10 – 15, 2019. Note, the lift ticket rates are the same for both as we recommend booking the Canadian March Passport option for your best rates.

Lodging Base Price  $                 756.00  $                   419.00

Lodging Total (USD)  $                 846.72  $                   502.80
Savings (USD)  $                   343.92
Adult Lift Ticket 1  $                 219.00  $                   219.00
Adult Lift Ticket 2  $                 219.00  $                   219.00
Junior Lift Ticket  $                 179.00  $                   179.00

*Deposit required on lodging portion at time of booking  $                423.36  $                  251.40

All rates are USD and subject to confirmation when booking with Sunday River. These are correct to the best of our knowledge (valid until October 15th), but in the event of a discrepancy between these rates and those quoted by the Hill directly – the Sunday River rates are correct.

The important thing to remember is that your cheapest option for booking at Sunday River is to book your lodging and lift tickets separately:

This will save you hundreds of dollars! You can see the $300+ USD savings above on a Studio Deluxe and a One Bedroom Suite saves $500+ USD!

The more detailed post on the booking process can be found here.
