We have some tentatively good news to share! With the planned border opening, Sunday River has confirmed they are working on pricing for March Break for Canadians. We are also considering planning a February week trip as well this year. Obviously there are still a lot of unknowns, but we are hoping to have more details and pricing information soon. We certainly have missed Sunday River and know you all feel the same 🙂
Happy Fall! While we don’t have any group trip updates to provide at this time, we know a few group members have been asking about Ski Martock and so wanted to pass along their latest newsletter:
Dear Season Pass Holders and Multi-Week Program Participants:
Thank you for purchasing your season pass and/or snow school program for the upcoming 2021- 2022 season.
We are writing to address concerns you may have over the uncertainty of water levels in the Avon River, and its effect on our ability to make snow for the upcoming season.
We have been working with all three levels of government to mitigate this situation. As you can appreciate, working through this process takes time. We have recently received all the permitting to allow us to lower our pumping station on the Avon River. The design is completed, most contractors have been engaged and construction has begun.
We thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you on the snow this winter.
Heather & Jim Boylan
Right around this time of year for the past many years, most of us were at Sunday River or at Jay Peak. As everyone knows, due to Covid that just didn’t happen this year!
Thankfully, we do have our local hills and they are doing a great job of saving our ski season.
We wanted to give a shout out to say what a great season we have had so far at Ski Martock, as we have been there quite a bit this year. I said today that the conditions at Martock could only be improved by having more acreage, thus more area for runs. A magic carpet from the chair lift to The Glades would also be nice for some of us!! 😉
As usual, the staff have worked their magic on the hill and it shows, the conditions are so close to perfection, especially in the morning, you could not ask for any better. The lift lines are very manageable and moving as fast as possible. The staff are super friendly and helpful. There have been a few customers that need to be reminded that MASKS are mandatory, but most have complied with a smile (of course you just couldn’t see it). We are all there to enjoy the sport and staff are going out of their way to make sure that we continue to have the opportunity to do so, therefore please mask up as required.
Just a reminder to not let this season pass you by just because we can’t enjoy our annual trip. We have a list of the hills in Atlantic Canada here, if you are looking for some more information.
Also wanted to share, we decided to stay overnight in Windsor on Tuesday to eliminate the drive and have a bit of a getaway. We stayed at The Clockmaker’s Inn, less than 10 mins to Ski Martock.
We had a wonderful stay in a very comfortable room, breakfast included. The staff there are super and the breakfast was so good. When we checked in we received a discount coupon for The Spitfire Arms Pub , which we had frequented a few times in the last few weeks. So this was a bonus, they have very good lunch time specials , so we had a late lunch after leaving the hill before heading to the Inn.
Let us know what you all have been up to this year! Hopefully next year we will all be together again.
Sending along best wishes for the new year to all of our group members! We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful holiday season, and hope 2021 brings lots of joy (and also lots of snow for local ski hills)!
While this new year is certainly different from our typical planning; we’d love to stay in touch with you all and pass along any ski related news we have.
Remember to follow us on Facebook where we will also share more frequent information from ski hills in the Maritime provinces.
Stay safe and healthy in 2021! We know most of us are ready to move on from 2020, just like this little member of our group!
We just received the following from Sunday River for anyone looking to cancel their trip:
Due to the advisories by Canadian and US government, I expect quite a few people, if not all, will want to cancel their trip. Please call the reservations hotline and you will be walked through the process. You may have to call guest services about the March passports.
Sunday River understands the need to change arrangements due to health concerns and want to accommodate as best they can.
Upon request, any guest with an existing reservation or making a new reservation for the period of March 13 to April 30 will be allowed to carry a credit for the value of their reservation for one year. We are effectively providing our Trip Protection benefits to any guests with an existing or new reservation during this arrival window. Contact point is 800-543-2754. Credits will remain in guest account in SMS.
Upon request, any Canadian guest who purchased a March Passport and has not picked it up will be allowed to carry a credit for their passport to next season. Passports will not be transferrable from the original purchaser and credits will be valid only toward the purchase of 2021 Passports. Contact point is firstname.lastname@example.org. Credits will remain in guest account in RTP.
Pre-purchased Lift Tickets
Upon request, any guest who pre-purchased a lift ticket online through sundayriver.com for arrival dates beginning March 13 through the end of the season will be issued a gift card for the value of their ticket purchase. Gift cards can be used to purchase tickets or other pass products online or at the resort. Tickets purchased through third parties / OTAs would fall under their respective policies. Contact point is email@example.com. Gift card number will be emailed and backup kept in ticket office.
Many of you are traveling for your trip next week; let us know if you have any questions or feel free to post a question on the Facebook group for feedback from other group members.
The forecast for Newry is showing a bit of a mix throughout the week; with temperatures potentially warming – pack your layers! Still looks like it will cool down during the nights to keep the conditions great.
Although we don’t have a group discount with them, wanted to mention we had a great experience at the Best Western in Woodstock. Fantastic staff, and close to the US border! As always, we have the group rates available in Bangor as well as Freeport.
We had a fantastic time last week, can’t wait to hear how the rest of our crew does next week. Please tag us on Instagram or use the hashtag #dugganskigroup ; we love to see what you are up to!
Happy Monday! Sunday River is starting the week with 12” of new snow in the past week and 30” average base depth. 129 trails are open; the most open terrain in New England!
This is your friendly reminder current prices will go up one more time after this Saturday, February 15th. Conditions are looking incredible so don’t miss out.
If you haven’t already, don’t forget to book any hotels you might need for travel along the way. We have the discounts and booking information for these here.
You also may want to download the mobile app, it is a great way to check out the trail map in advance as well as view current conditions while on site.
We also spotted some familiar faces on the Sundar River website this morning, and had to share. 😉
Keep sharing our discount code and bring your friends along. We love being a part of your family traditions.
When you arrive at the hill at the start of your vacation, your season passes will not be waiting for you at the hotel when you check in – you must go to the season pass desk at South Ridge Lodge in order to pick up your pass. Your photo will be taken and your pass will be created for you.
You will be required to sign a Liability Release Form as well for your Canadian March Passport. There is a link to an electronic signature option through the Sunday River site here for you to sign in advance: E-Sign Season Pass Liability Release Form. (note, if you are having trouble with the link, it doesn’t seem to work as well in internet explorer so please try a different browser).
The hours of operation at the season pass desk are:
- Saturday and Sunday 7am to 4pm
- Monday through Friday 8-4pm
Any other questions on picking up your pass please let us know!
Updated prices are up for Sunday River 2020! This most recent rate update is now valid until February 15th.
Check out the booking page for all the details and please share this discount code with any family and friends interested in coming along.
